January 4, 2008 Demonstrations Paralyze Nairobi

The situation here is uncertain. Demonstrations are being held daily paralyzing transport system and making the town center a no go zone. There is no means of transport from upcountry to Nairobi thus many people unable to resume their duties. Josephine, Isaac and Evans are unable to travel back due to the Fracas going on.

The WEEP centers are safe though not operational. I have not been able to get Mary from Mathare to know the status there but all the others have confirmed they are safe but not operating for fear of looting and destruction of property. The office area is safe, there are no reported cases of violence or
demonstrations here.

We keep on praying for peace and cessation of the senseless killings
going on.
